A typical day on safari
Wake up to the soft glow of dawn and the aroma of fresh tea or coffee delivered to your tent – best enjoyed on your private verandah. Eager to get out there? Head out early for a game drive when the animals are at their most active. Or linger for a hearty breakfast before setting off.
Early Morning Action
The morning light is perfect for capturing wildlife in action, so grab your camera. We’ll stop for a coffee break beneath a shady tree. And if you’ve booked a private vehicle, the day is yours to explore at your own pace. We don’t set a daily limit to the distances our vehicles travel, so your safari is as limitless as your sense of adventure.
Midday Chill
Back to camp for a delicious lunch? Maybe, but if you’re caught up in a thrilling sighting, we’ll stay out longer – safari first, food later! Escape the midday heat with a siesta, a good book, or just relax – tea and coffee are available all day. And while some guests return for a midday break, others prefer a packed lunch and keep exploring.
Late Afternoon Safari
As the heat fades, venture out for a late afternoon drive, when wildlife stirs back to life. Fancy a sundowner? Sip on your favourite drink with snacks as the African sunset casts its magic.
Dining in the Wild
From breakfast to dinner, all meals and a good selection of local house drinks are included in your stay. Breakfasts are a generous continental spread including homemade muesli, pancakes and fresh fruit, plus a hot selection cooked to order. Lunches are a flavourful mix – think quiche, pastas, salads, chicken. Dinners normally start with a soup, followed by the main course: grilled meat, fish, a mild curry or BBQ, with plenty of sides to choose from – there’s always too much! If you’re on the go, our bush picnics and lunch boxes are just as tasty and varied. We’re happy to accommodate special dietary needs—just let us know in advance!
Walking Safaris
Multi-day walks offer a unique perspective of the Great Rift’s stunning scenery, mountains, lakes and wildlife. The journey, covering 10-18 km per day, culminates at the foot of the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano overlooking Lake Natron. This fully supported hike provides an immersive experience in both nature and culture. Or, enjoy a walk from the highlands down to the Conservation area into Ndutu / Gol Mountains regions – a completely different perspective of Ngorongoro bordering the plains of the Serengeti.
Other Activities
- Birding: is highly rewarding, both around the camps and on game drives
- Balloon safari: enjoy a spectacular bird’s eye view as you gently float above vast wilderness plains
- Northern Tanzania Highlights include the Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, the
active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, Lake Natron, the Rift Valley, Lake Manyara and
Tarangire National Park.
Community Interaction
For those interested in local culture and community projects, there are many initiatives to support and visit, such as building schools and health centres and participating in tree planting projects. An interactive visit to a Maasai village offers unique insights into Maasai culture and traditions, with proceeds directly benefiting local Maasai families by providing employment and funding for water, food, medicine and education.
